OPEN not shut:

We believe in openness to God’s Word as the sole authority of our lives.

Why? The Word is Christ (John 1:1-2, 14). Therefore, we seek to delight in Him without neglect (Psalm 119:16). For, all Scripture is “God-breathed” (2 Tim. 3:16), molding us, shaping us toward Christlikeness. God speaks to us through His Word still, and it is relevant to our lives today (cf. Hebrews 4:12). The Word of God should read us as much as we read it.

DEMONSTRATED BY:

  • Approaching the Word to seek God without pre-determined conclusions (i.e. Placing ourselves under the Word not over it)..

  • Valuing our “Church of Christ” heritage and the interpretations of our forebears, yet ultimately committed and deferred to the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

  • Following Jesus and his teaching with full obedience.

  • Believing that God responds to faith not need.
